Summer so Far!

Well it's been a busy old' Summer with lots of creative happenings in some of our favourite spots!

Inspired by the question: What would you say if the world was listening?
UPLIFTERS engaged in a number of activities designed to give us all a boost through being creative whilst exploring issues that are real to us.

Here's a few snapshots of our Summer so far!

Taking Inspiration from the exhibition, 'A World to Win: Posters of Protest and Revolution' at the Civic Gallery, UPLIFTERS enjoyed a screen printing workshop, designing and making their very own protest posters. The result of which was the brilliant design for our Protest Podium promo!

Next up it was a trip to the beautiful Northern College for our 'Be the Change' Residential. Inspired by it's political roots, this two day programme looked at what makes a great speech and developing the confidence to find our voice. With UPLIFTERS taking to the Roman Temple on our final night to make their voices heard!

Full of ideas and material for personal manifestoes it was time to pen to paper with a special 2 day writing workshop, 'Words are Power!' with poet, James Nash, in preparation for our Podium Protest!

And then, a day to be heard, to stand up and be counted!

The UPLIFT Podium Protest saw people from all walks of life share their experiences and vision for a better world. Chilling on Mandela Gardens with our homemade revolution snacks, and getting involved in the Protest Street art wall, it was a day for speakers, poets and musicians, one and all to engage in positive social activism! And what a fab day it was!
