It was Light's Camera, Action! on Saturday as Creative Recovery hit the small screen featuring on both ITV's news programme, Calendar and BBC 1's quiz show Pointless!
As Creative Recovery took to the streets with the “I Matter” Campaign in support of World Mental Health Day, ITV's news programme Calendar came down to capture the day's events.
In monochrome branded t-shirts armed with post cards and balloons our wonderful participants surprised Saturday shoppers by giving out lots of "I Matter" goodies along with glittery gift boxes, all of which shared the message, “I Matter” “You Matter” “We matter”.
This special campaign was developed by participants of Creative Recovery, all of whom have experienced their own Mental health problems, and it marks World Mental Day and beyond.
Together with the council and community/therapy groups O.S.C.A.R (Offload, share, care and relax) & TADS (Therapies for Anxiety and depression.) we shared the ‘I Matter’ message with some glorious live music around our signature street piano! We would also like to say a massive thank you to Debbie Baxter, Dave Lawton, Dave Kaye and Dave Smith who have worked tirelessly to create the super "I Matter" trailer which was in situ on the day.
Our efforts hit the headlines with the days antics being featured on Calendar throughout the day, and a special appearance by our very own Hannah Parrot who bravely shared her own experience of battling with depression as a teenager.
Meanwhile, if you flicked the channel there was more Creative Recovery coverage as Barnsley based Poet Ian McMillan nominated Creative Recovery as his chosen charity on the BBC 1 quiz show, Pointless! It is safe to say we were thrilled with £250 win and more so with the lovely words. Big thanks Ian, both were much appreciated!
